Ordering a book: how many copies?

Ordering a book starts with the print run, and that choice decides more than the price alone. Because we print digitally there is no minimum: one copy works as well as five hundred. At small numbers you pay a little more per book, but you carry no stock risk at all. At larger runs the unit price drops, because the set-up costs are spread over more copies.

In practice it usually pays to order a single proof copy first. You can then see how the paper feels, how the colours come out and whether the spine width is right, and only then have the rest printed. Reordering later with the same file is always possible. What determines the delivery time is covered under delivery and returns, and supplying files under supplying files. If you want to sell your book as well, you will need an ISBN, issued in the UK by the Nielsen ISBN Store.
