For photo books you almost always choose coated paper. The coating ensures ink penetrates less, keeping colours saturated and sharp. You choose between matt, silk and gloss.
Matt, silk or gloss?
- Matt: calm and timeless, no reflections, nice for viewing in bright light.
- Silk: the golden mean, lightly glossy with deep colours.
- Gloss: maximum contrast and depth, but with glare and fingerprints.
Paper weight
