Soulleadership, printed as a hardcover.

Hardcover book printing at PrintItEasy starts from a single copy. A hardcover radiates quality and lasts for years, the natural choice for a book meant to be kept, given or sold. You choose the size, the binding and the paper, and we check your file before production.

What is a hardcover suitable for?

Hardcover books are ideal for editions with a premium look: cookbooks, art and photo books, anniversary editions, annual reports, corporate publications and luxury gift books. Wherever sturdiness, experience and a long lifespan matter, a hardcover comes into its own.

Options and specifications

  • Sizes: various standard sizes and custom formats, from A5 to A4 and square.
  • Interior: wood-free offset or coated paper, typically 90–170 gsm.
  • Cover: full-colour printed board with matt or gloss lamination, or a linen look.
  • Binding: sewn binding for maximum sturdiness and a book that opens beautifully.
  • Extras: ribbon marker, headband and coloured or printed endpapers.

Print a hardcover in 3 steps

  • Choose your specification. Decide on size, paper, cover finish and whether you want a dust jacket.
  • Supply your file. Upload a print-ready PDF with embedded fonts and, for the cover, the correct spine width.
  • We print and deliver. Once your file is approved, your hardcover arrives within 5 to 7 working days.

What makes a hardcover different?

Hardcover book printing gives you a book with rigid boards, so the book stands on a shelf, opens firmly and protects the pages. Combined with a sewn binding it lies flat and survives years of handling, which is why keepsakes, gift editions and premium titles are so often hardcovers.

A hardcover can be finished in several ways: printed directly on the case, wrapped in printed paper, bound in linen, or given a separate dust jacket. Foil or blind embossing on the title adds a refined touch.

Paper and cover for hardcover book printing

For the inside pages, choose paper to match the content: cream novel paper of 80 to 90 gsm for a text-led book, or silk of 120 gsm or more for a book with many photographs. The case is built from rigid board, wrapped in your printed cover with matt or gloss lamination.

The spine width depends on the number of pages and the paper, so the cover is set up once the interior is final. We are glad to help you get the spine right.

Supplying your file

Supply the interior as a print-ready PDF with embedded fonts, and the cover as a separate file with the correct spine width and 3 mm bleed. Keep a generous inner margin, especially on a thick book. Not sure about your file, or unsure about the spine? We are happy to check it with you at no charge. For guidance, see our knowledge base.

For authors, businesses and keepsakes

A hardcover suits a novel, a family history, a company anniversary book or a photo book meant to last. Because we print from a single copy, you can order a proof and judge the result before ordering a run. To sell your hardcover through bookshops, you will need an ISBN, see the International ISBN Agency.
