Which specification suits a yearbook?
For yearbook printing, a hardcover with a sewn binding gives a lasting keepsake that survives years of leafing through, ideal for a school or club yearbook meant to be treasured. A sewn binding also lies flat, so group photos and collages run across two pages.
For a larger print run at a friendly price per copy, useful when the whole class or club orders one, a softcover with a perfect binding is a fine, economical choice.
Paper, colour and format
A yearbook is usually full of photographs, so choose silk paper of 135 gsm or more: colours stay saturated and images sharp, with restrained reflection. For lots of full-page photos, 150 gsm feels more substantial.
A4 is the most popular size, with room for photo grids, collages and text side by side. Work in CMYK for consistent colour, and keep 3 mm bleed on full-page images.
Supplying your file and collecting content
Supply your file as a print-ready PDF in CMYK at a minimum of 300 dpi at actual size, with 3 mm bleed on full-page images. Photos gathered from many people vary in quality, so ask for originals rather than compressed versions from chat apps, so everything prints sharply. Keep faces clear of the gutter on spreads. Not sure about your file? We are happy to check it at no charge.
For schools, clubs and companies
Schools print yearbooks for graduating classes, clubs for a season, companies for an anniversary year. Because we print from a single copy, you can order a proof and check the result before ordering a run for everyone. From a larger run the price per copy falls. How long does it take?
Once your file is approved, we print and dispatch within 5 to 7 working days.
