Print a portfolio in 3 steps
- Choose your specification. Decide on size, binding, paper and cover finish.
- Supply your file. Upload a print-ready PDF in CMYK with 3 mm bleed. We check resolution and colours.
- We print and deliver. Once your file is approved, your portfolio arrives within 5 to 7 working days.
Which format and binding present your work best?
For portfolio printing, choose a format that suits your work. A4 landscape gives wide images and spreads room, while A4 portrait suits a mix of text and images. A sewn hardcover lies flat and gives a premium, lasting impression, ideal for a leave-behind portfolio.
For a portfolio you update often or hand out at events, a softcover or wire-o binding is lighter and more economical, and wire-o lets the book lie completely flat.
Paper and colour
Your paper choice shapes how your work reads. Silk of 150 gsm or more gives rich colour with restrained reflection and suits most portfolios. Matt paper looks understated and refined; gloss makes colours more vivid but shows reflections.
Colour accuracy matters when presenting your work. Work and supply in CMYK, and request a proof if exact colour is critical. See the International Color Consortium for more on colour management.
Supplying your file
Supply your file as a print-ready PDF in CMYK at a minimum of 300 dpi at actual size, with 3 mm bleed on full-page images. Keep the layout calm, so your work takes centre stage, not the design around it. Not sure about your file? We are happy to check it with you at no charge.
For designers, photographers and students
Designers, photographers, architects and students print portfolios to present their work to clients, employers or admissions panels. Because we print from a single copy, you can order exactly what you need and update your portfolio whenever your work grows. A printed portfolio makes a stronger, more considered impression than a screen.
